Junior Marqus Blakely piled up 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds and the University of Vermont men’s basketball team capped its preseason with a 73-59 win over St. Michael’s on Saturday afternoon at Patrick Gym.
The Catamounts — who open their season Saturday when they play host to George Mason — led by as many as 26 points in the second half.
UVM senior Mike Trimboli also scored 15 points to go along with five assists while sophomore Joey Accaoui netted 11 and senior Colin McIntosh chipped in with 10.
The Catamounts defeated Concordia 77-69 last weekend in their preseason opener.
“I thought we played much better today than we did against Concordia last weekend,” Vermont head coach Mike Lonergan said in a news release. “I thought when our top guys were out there we were really focused and built up a nice lead. Marqus and Mike did a nice job, especially distributing the ball, and Joey was steady for us.
