BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Marqus Blakely hit two baskets in the final minute of overtime, leading Vermont to a 69-64 victory over Stony Brook on Sunday.
The Catamounts (20-7, 11-3 America East Conference) took the lead for good, 63-62, when Blakely drove for a layup with 57 seconds left. After a Stony Brook miss, he converted a fast-break dunk with 37 seconds left.
Mike Trimboli led Vermont with 25 points and Blakely finished with 18. They also added 4 assists apiece. Demetrius Young had 22 points and eight rebounds.
Vermont trailed 51-47 with 4:22 left before going on a 7-2 run to take the 55-53 lead. But Bryan Dougher of Stony Brook (14-12, 6-7) sent the game into overtime with a jumper with six seconds left.
There were 10 lead changes and nine ties in the game.
Muhammad El-Amin added 14 points and two assists for Stony Brook. Dougher had 13.
