WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior Maurice Joseph (Montreal, Quebec) scored 19 and classmate Marqus Blakely (Metuchen, N.J.) added 18 points and 12 rebounds as the second-seeded Vermont men’s basketball team cruised past seven seed UMBC, 76-59 in the America East Quarterfinals on Saturday night at the Chase Family Arena. The Catamounts improve to 23-9 overall and will now advance to the semifinals on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. against #6 New Hampshire. Joseph scored 14 of his game-high 19 in the first half, while Blakely also added five assists and three blocks in 28 minutes of play. Junior Evan Fjeld (Durham, N.C.) added his third double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
