FINAL SCORE: No. 12/16 Michigan State 67, Vermont 33 | Box Score
EAST LANSING, Mich. –
Lykendra Johnson scored a game-high 14 points to lead Michigan State (No. 12 AP/No. 16 USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll) past visiting Vermont, 67-33, in non-conference women's basketball action at the Breslin Center on Tuesday evening.

Michigan State extends its win streak to 10 games and improves to 12-1 on the year. Vermont falls to 0-10 overall.

"I was pleased with our overall effort and the way we battled the whole game," said Vermont head coach Lori Gear McBride. "Even though we were disappointed with the outcome, we felt we got better tonight and saw some improvement."

The Spartans jumped out to an 18-2 lead with 9:31 left in the first half. Ashley Hoyt nailed a 3-pointer at the 8:18 mark to end UVM's five-minute scoreless drought. Freshman Jasmine Cooper cut Michigan State's lead to 10, 21-11, on a jumper at the 5:32 mark. However, the Spartans answered with a 15-4 run to close out the half and took a 36-15 advantage into halftime.

MSU started the second half with a 13-2 run, behind eight points from Johnson, to extend its lead to 32, 49-17, five minutes into the second half. Michigan State's lead would increase to 36 with eight minutes left in the game and the Spartans cruised to their 12th straight victory on their home court.
