Caylee Fleury blasted a bottom of the 5th triple to deep right field to give the Spaulding fans something to cheer about. The hit drove in Lorisa Holt giving Spaulding its first run and it spoiling CVU's, Katrina Givevara's bid for a No-Hitter.
Other than that moment, it was CVU's day taking advantage of some walks and a rough day in the field for the young Tide team. Jillian Goldsworthy started on the mound and was strong in the first two innings before control and an unsettled defense spelled trouble for the Crimson Tide. Freshmen Chalaun Blanchard came on strong to finish out the game in the 4th inning.
Caylee Fleury had the lone hit for the Tide, her booming triple , and Abby Wolfe made some nice stops at short. Melissa Miller was CVU's hitting leader with 3 hits and two doubles.Spaulding falls to 1-2 now that CVU made up for the 13-5 loss to the Tide on Opening Day.
