Joe Serafin has the lowest earned-run average of any pitcher in the America East Conference.![](http://gcirm.burlingtonfreepress.gcion.com/RealMedia/.ads/adstream_lx.ads/vt-burlington.burlingtonfreepress.com/news/article.htm/1012480811/ArticleFlex_1/OasDefault/ecco_clothing/ecco_300x250.gif/34613439396436303438323635643130?_RM_EMPTY_)
Miguel Magrass is among the league leaders in home runs and RBIs.
The ace and the slugger are enjoying success for the University of Vermont baseball team this spring — and making up for lost time.
Both Catamounts have sprung back from long layoffs: Serafin was robbed of last season by a broken ankle while Magrass’ two-year hiatus was the result of injury and academics.
“It gives you a little more motivation to come out here and make the best of it,” said Magrass, a fifth-year senior who plays third base and outfield.
Serafin, a crafty lefty, feels the same way, evidenced by his 5-3 record and 2.38 ERA.
“It makes me realize that I can’t take anything for granted,” said Serafin, a junior. “I’ve been working harder this year than any other year I’ve been here.”
