The University of Vermont athletic department unveiled its fourth annual Rally Awards at the Flynn Theatre on Tuesday night, celebrating the accomplishments of student-athletes and honoring community members.
The awards:
Athletic Department Award: Linda Bogardus of Essex Junction and Steve Doyon of South Burlington were honored for their support and devotion to UVM sports throughout the years.
Jeff Stone Memorial Award: Senior Corinne DiPietro and sophomore Jared Alvord were recognized for contributions in community service and campus leadership. Both compete in track and field.
Underclass Athletic Achievement Award: Sophomores Courtnay Pilypaitis (basketball) and Marqus Blakely (basketball) were honored for outstanding athletic accomplishments by a freshman, sophomore or junior.

Luke Apfeld has given his verbal to the University of Vermont to play basketball as a member of the 2009 recruiting class. He joins big man Ben Crenca as part of another stellar Mike Lonergan recruiting class.
