BRISTOL — The Mount Mansfield Union baseball team earned a 7-3 win over Mount Abraham on Thursday and delivered Bob Slayton the 350th victory of his coaching career.
Slayton is the fifth high school baseball coach in Vermont to reach the milestone, joining Steve Ferreira of Essex, Frank Pecora of Northfield, Mike Pearo of Rice and Al Plante of Mount Anthony.
“I’m pretty happy,” said Slayton, who is in his 35th season of coaching. “I’ve been around for a long time.”
Thursday, Ted Kusiak hurled an seven-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk and Nate Dolan launched a two-run home run. Kurt Vesosky provided the 8-2 Cougars two hits, two stolen bases and an RBI.
