Not long after watching standout freshman Joe Trapani transfer to Boston College, Vermont coach Mike Lonergan and the Catamounts have rebounded in grand fashion.

Lonergan received word from Michigan State sophomore wing Maurice Joseph that the Canadian scorer would be heading to Burlington.

"They are a good program and have been to the NCAA tournament three of the last four years," said the 6-foot-3 Joseph. "My goal was to be somewhere I can be more of a focal point and win."

Joseph averaged 5.9 points in 16.8 minutes per game last season, but was used primarily as a spot-up shooter. He was also fully aware that Tom Izzo was bringing in a talented freshman class that includes a pair of wings -- in-state star Durrell Summers and Georgia native Chris Allen.
