Three of Vermont's Four Semipro Teams Qualified
The University of Vermont Club Football Team and the Vermont Ravens of Barre, both qualified for the postseason of the Northeast Independent Football League this weekend. The Ravens, who played their first home game at Barre's Spaulding High School, won convincingly over the Exeter (NH) Gamblers, 42-0. The Catamounts were awarded a forfeit victory because the Central Maine Warriors could not field enough players to make the trip to Burlington. Combined with the 13-0 Vermont Icestorm in the Empire Football League, that makes three Vermont semipro teams who will be playing in the postseason.
The Catamounts currently lead the NIFL's Western Division with a 4-1 record, while the Ravens are keeping pace at 4-2. UVM travels to Barre on October 21 to face the Ravens in a game that could decide which team wins the Western Division and receives a first round bye in the playoffs. UVM travels to face the University of Maine Club Team this Saturday night in a meeting of 4-1 teams. The Ravens are off this weekend and next play against UVM on Oct. 21.
The Mass Fury (5-0) and University of Maine Club Team (4-1) have also already qualified for the playoffs in the Northeast Independent Football League.
