BURLINGTON, Vt. - University of Vermont men?s basketball junior Mike Trimboli (Norwalk, Conn.) was named to the Collegehoopsnet.com Preseason Mid-Major All-America Third Team. The national college hoops web site made the announcement today.

The reigning America East Fans? Choice Player of the Year is one of only four non-seniors selected to the first three teams and is the only student-athlete chosen from the America East. Last year as a sophomore he earned all-conference first team honors after averaging 15.8 points and 5.0 assists per game, and was named to the all-championship team.

Just 60 points shy of 1,000 for his career entering this season, Trimboli was one of only two Catamounts to start all 33 contests last season as Vermont (25-8, 15-1 America East) won the America East Regular Season Championship for the third time in the program?s history. He helped the Catamounts tie the school record for wins in a season and advance to the postseason National Invitational Tournament for the first time in team history.

Fans can get their first look at the Vermont men?s basketball team at the annual Catamount Tip-Off on Saturday, October 20 at 4:00pm at Patrick Gymnasium. Vermont?s first preseason action will take place on October 31st when the Cats face Concordia (7:00pm) and the regular season opens on November 9 at George Mason (7:00pm).
